Welcome Friends!
Thank you for visiting the Equine Science Center website. Spring is in full bloom at Rutgers University and the Equine Science Center is working vigorously on new projects and activities. At the core of everything we do at the Center is our mission of better horse care through research and education to advance the well-being and performance of horses and the equine industry.
In early April, the Center launched Equine Science 4 Kids! - a redesigned, interactive youth component now available on our website. The component features Lord Nelson, a 37-year old American Quarter horse, as the figurehead guiding youth through the revamped educational component. Lord Nelson has a long history with the university and, because of his wealth of experiences, was specifically chosen as “Professor Emeritus” for the updated youth component. Be sure to visit Equine Science 4 Kids and horse around with Lord Nelson!
Our website is designed to be a powerful educational tool for equine enthusiasts of all ages, breeds and disciplines, and horse-related interests. As you explore our website, you will discover two recurring fundamental concepts: research and education. The Equine Science Center faculty members are highly-regarded experts researching critical areas in the horse industry such as nutrition, exercise physiology, healthcare, responsible horse ownership, and integrity in equestrian sport, to name a few.
The Equine Science Center places considerable emphasis on education as we communicate the advancements and developments of our research projects as well as issues of concern to the overall horse industry. Our website offers several comprehensive and unique educational features including:
The Center also offers several workshops, seminars, lectures, and meetings throughout the year. Please see our Events page for details.
We want to hear from you! Please send us your comments, thoughts, and feedback at esc@njaes.rutgers.edu. Anyone can “speak” to our faculty and staff through this site. If you have a horse-related question, you probably will find the answer in our “FAQs,” located under “Ask Us.” Or, submit your question directly through our Ask the Expert feature.
Cheers, Karyn Malinowski, Ph.D.
