I have windows updates set to ask me first, but this one has a mind of it’s own. Just wanted to say thanks – I have aees2501a searching all over the place trying to find out why my vists was unresponsive – this did it – many thanks! I have even gone to the DigitalPersona website but found nothing. I hope this works for you. Windows Update had an update for this device, but the update failed and I cannot find a way to reinstall the update.
I tried 4 versions and the only one that works with DigitalPersona is 7.
Thanks Deathpong this worked for me, just roll back the driver, to authenetc. This was before I installed the new drivers from HP site.
I even tried removing and finding again the device from device manager and all went well, but DigitalPersona Personal kept saying that fingerprint reader isn’t connected. I installed the optional Authentec AESA update and it caused my fingerprint reader to stop working.

I have a HP dvus. Maybe these different versions are meant for different models, but they appear to be the same driver. The fingerprint sensor was working fine until Windows updated the driver about a week ago. I have tried all of the above as well. Windows indicates that the reader is installed and working properly and that the drivers are up to date. I would go straight to the Device Manager and Rollback, but the option is greyed out.
Even after reinstalling it all it still won’t recognize. I can still see the update in update history and it says the installation failed.
